Woodies touts itself as a wine bar, but that’s probably stretching things a bit far. It’s housed in a refurbished barn, previously owned by a pub on the same site which has long since been demolished. The structure has retained the original timbers and stone where possible and is a comfortable and feels modern. It has a tiled floor, the bar in the corner was recycled from the former pub and there are plenty of tables inside too. There is a large car park on the site of the former pub building, and there is a brick patio at the front which has plenty of space for al fresco dining and drinking. It’s popular with families, and dogs are welcomed, though there were a few entitled Karens and some younger local idiots present. No real ale, and just Neck Oil on keg alongside some lager offerings. Food is locally sourced, mainly pizzas and small meals. It was OK but I don’t think I’ll be making an effort to come back.
