Taken over from the much missed Good Mood bar it now has two pulls with beers from Vocation as well as a range of kegs, craft and otherwise. The keynote cycle based decor is similar to the Brighouse venue but more subdued. Otherwise much as before in layout and even furnishings athough rearranged a bit. A bit more upmarket than a few nearby places, it fits well with the Victorian Beer Cafe Bar, Kobenhaven, Grayston Unity and Meandering Bear.

This place seemed to be more of a cafe than a bar. However, they did have a couple of cask ales from Vocation - Bread & Butter & Vocation & Friends With Neon Raptor Burton Pale Ale. The cider was Lilley's Mango. In addition, 3 vocation keg beers were also on offer - Heart & Soul, Crush Hour & Life & Death.
It is a nice, bright and modern drinking environment with a fairly young crowd. A couple of bicycles can be found high up on the walls. None of the other customers were obvious cyclists and none of them were wearing lycra.
Having just bagged a table, a young waiter came and told us that it was reserved, shortly after we'd sat down. Having just had a confrontation with the bar staff and bouncers at the nearby Wetherspoon's, we weren't about to be moved, but then we didn't hang around long either. This is a reasonable place, but there are many far better places to drink in Halifax.

Mamil is a modern cafe style bar and like Ray below I didn't initially get the meaning of the name, the two vocation beers on handpump was a pleasing sight although my notes differ on the beers Ray noted, I recall the beers being Chop & Change and Bread & Butter, with Heart and Soul being present in the next pub on the crawl, whatever the truth the Bread & Butter was good and the bar pleasant.
