Situated in the centre of Newcastle's main shopping area this relatively new micropub is similar to the Town Mouse in that it is located in a cellar bar, down several steps from street level.
It is quite dark inside as such. But the pub is well decorated and it has an interesting selection of cask ales, real cider and also craft beers to suit all palates.
On our late Tuesday afternoon visit, the cask ale selection was Neptune Nelson Sales Agin, Maxim Raspberry Porter, Saltaire Best, S43 Torque & Almsasty Green. Ciders were SeaCider Raspberry Ripple, Weston's Rosie's Pig & Gwynt y Ddraig Happy Daze, whilst the craft beer selection was Duck Duck Juice, S43/Duck Cluster Duck, Axvex Hazelnut Dreamcake, Verdant Putty, Overtone Night At The Disco, Polly's In Bloim, Adroit Theory Death Ronin & De Molten Heaven & Hell Breckenridge Barrel Aged.
The barman was friendly and knowledgeable. He offered us a number of tasters to help us with our selection.
Certainly a valuable addition to the Newcastle drinking scene and possibly a good place to relax in after a little shopping.

A recent addition to Central Newcastle, which opened two weeks ago. This is a sister pub to the Old Fox in Felling. This is a basement bar, which consisted of one room and bar, a small lobby to the rear, with a couple of drinking ledges. There was also a small rear patio garden area. The main feature in the main room was the half fixed timber barrels fixed to the ceiling area, some of which were utilized for pendant lighting. Ten keg beers served from taps along the back of the bar and a choice of four ales across five pumps along the front bar. We went for the Errant There's Nothing Like It and the Almasty Green Pale. A friendly set up here and had good atmosphere.
