Pub SignMan left this review about Flat Iron Square Bar

This is the main bar for the Flat Iron Square complex – another of those multi-venue eating and drinking establishments in the same mould as the Boxpark chain. The bar is set in a wide railway arch in the centre of the complex, with a second arch to one side for overspill. The arch has a concrete floor and very nice high vaulted ceiling devoid of the usual ugly metal cladding that characterise such railway arch bars. High tables and stools have been arranged down either side, with plenty of vertical drinking space in between, whilst the servery stands to the rear with a timber fronted counter, metal top and bland, rough wooden bar back which all of the keg taps are lined across, with handy name boards above so that you don’t have to squint to figure out what beers are on. The side arch also has a row of seating down one side and is connected to the main bar by an internal door so that you don’t need to head outside to reach the bar. When the weather is good, there is a lot of outdoor seating available, much of which appears to be in shared spaces that allow you to combine your drink with food from the surrounding eateries. Music was playing throughout my visit, but the arch was so loud and echoey that I could barely hear it beneath the general hubbub.
There’s no cask here, but keg beer is in plentiful supply, mainly from global brands, but with a few craft options from the likes of Camden, Beavertown and Goose Island. I took something from the latter brewer, which was nothing too special, and thought that the bar staff were highly efficient, if a little short on pleasantries,
These mixed venues rarely score well on the beer front and I felt that this place was no different, failing to provide anything other than fairly mainstream keg brews at inflated prices. Whilst I prefer the cool vaulted arch here over the clinical metal containers of Boxpark and Pop Brixton, I still found the drinking experience left a lot to be desired and would probably only come back again if I was looking for something to eat instead.
