Ironically, after taking years to open in the first place, this bar was seemingly unable to ride out three months of lockdown and will not be reopening.

From their Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/tqbfmcr/posts/179521630253318):

Hi everyone,

We at The Quick Brown Fox hope everyone has been keeping well.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce we will not be re-opening post lockdown. The current climate for small businesses is a terrifying one, and unfortunately we do not have the capacity to continue trading once the lockdown is lifted.

Although we were open less than a year, we met some wonderful people along the way. A big thank you to all of our customers, and to our staff, for making The Quick Brown Fox a great place to be.

Sadly, this now appears to be the future of "pubs". This vastly overpriced nonsense is squarely aimed at knobheads who think £5 for a third of a pint of Blooble Ales Shitel IPA 4.2% is great. Oh there's 24 taps for poorhouse rocketing beer. Stop the world, I've ran out of money. Crap.

The Quick Brown Fox has been a long time coming, with articles in the Manchester Evening News from as far back as 2016 referring to this bar as "opening soon". Apparently this is a joint venture between the teams behind PLY and Alphabet. The Quick Brown Fox opened this Friday, 27 September and I visited on the Saturday.

Curiously there are 24 taps on the back wall, I can't help thinking if they had stuck another two on they could have had one for each letter of the alphabet, tying in with the pangram that is presumably the inspiration behind the name of the bar. That said, don't go expecting 24 beers. On Saturday there were many taps not in use, about five for beer (but one of those was actually unavailable) and others were for wine and cocktails. The beer was served a bit warmer than you would expect for keg beer but was otherwise pleasant enough.

My only niggle on the beer front was that everything was priced by the 2/3 pint, which in itself isn't uncommon, but the Quick Brown Fox will only sell the beer in 2/3 pint measures. A half pint is not an option. Most places will serve you the measure you desire and adjust the price accordingly.

Service was friendly and despite the bar being busy the guy serving took the time to have a little chat about the bar and how they'd just opened that weekend. It is currently card only but they are planning on being able to take cash in the future. I would imagine that once the place gets into full swing the number of beers available will increase too.

It does look a little unfinished in parts, we sat at a booth that presumably was meant to have a table between the benches, but it wasn't a massive issue.

Toilets are downstairs (if I am remembering rightly) and the gents were a bit on the small side but otherwise clean, modern and pleasant.

It was certainly busy enough on Saturday night, and if it can keep that level of trade going it should be very successful. I'd be happy to pay a return visit in a few months once it is running at full speed. It's fair to say that considering it was only their second night of opening they were coping very well on the Saturday night, and I wish it every success.
