Steve of N21 left this review about Thomas de la Rue

Named after the founder of De La Rue, the company that now prints most of the worlds money, the Thomas de La Rue was the closest pub to our hotel and we utilised it every day during our stay in St Peter Port.
The main entrance is on Pallet Street and this takes you into the two tiered main bar area with its large flat screen teles on each level. And then a staircase takes you down to the lower bar with its additional inside seating area and outside seating leading out onto the North Plantation. I believe there may be an additional room upstairs from the main bar but we never explored this far.
I also believe it is owned by the Liberation Group along with its nearby sister pub The Ship and Crown and although there are only two regular ales on here, in the shape of Butcombe Bitter and Liberation Ale, the Liberation Ale was reliably good and probably the most enjoyable real ale we experienced whilst on Guernsey.
We also ate here on two occasions, both times getting the plum outside tables on the small patio area on the ground floor and the standard pub food menu was reliably good on both occasions.
Then in the evenings the pub gets livelier with a younger crowd and regularly hosts live music and DJ nights on the lower section of the main bee room, as it did for our visits when it was the official venue for the Hern Fest after party which was still going strong when we left gone midnight. There is so much 80’s rock you can take after all…
