My walk took me to three villages, all with pubs, but this one wins out by virtue of being the only one open 7 days a week.
A solid village locally, trying to cater for everyone. Informal dining, formal dining, area for drinkers, cocktail menu, bar snack menu. Something for all.
Low ceiling, multi roomer - with a bar and more formal dining area. Waitresses buzzing around the place at high speed.
Four real ales on - which included Hook Norton Twelve Days seasonal porter in fine condition.

A pleasant enough village pub in a chocolate box village somewhat off the beaten track. It's had a rather unfortunate refurbishment which has left the floor behind the bar about a foot higher than the punters' side: when you place your order you feel like five-year-old kid asking a grown-up for more.
Strong gastro pretentions, complete with crematorium chairs, and all but a couple of tables laid up for eating on a midweek afternoon. Marston's related beers, Doombar, Bombardier, we opted for rather tired Wainwright. Everyone else present was on lager, I should know better.
Nice enough spot for the well-heeled (but not well-heeled enough to retire to the Cotswolds proper) final-salary populace to enjoy their pan-fried (what else do you fry it in?) duck breast.
This one doesn't tick enough boxes (like nice beer) for a return visit and ticks enough wrong boxes (like all the tables laid up) too. Though it is open all day, which gets it an extra point.
Not to be confused with the Peacock in nearby Tysoe.
