It is a pity that the station at Stoke on Trent has ticket barriers, unlike Sheffield, for example, where it is permitted to exit the station via the Sheffield Tap. Here, Bod is divided in two by a mini-checkpoint Charlie, or at least it was at the semi-rush hour when I was here. There were fewer beers on the bar than other Bods I have been to, but at least this had the benefit that my half of Titanic Steerage, while not to my taste, was in very good condition.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Bod Stoke

Attractive conversion of the former first-class waiting room, with separate doors from Station Road and Platform 1 and an annoying little gate between the 'paid' and 'unpaid' halves closed until the ticket barriers inside the main concourse are opened later in the day. Apart from that, both parts have been furnished and decorated in a mix of traditional and modern styles that seems to work quite well. With six handpumps on the counter, and as a Titanic Brewery offshoot, I found Steerage, White Star and Plum Porter available from the bank of three handpumps on each part of the counter, but no guest real ales on this visit.

At the far south end of Platform 1,or from a street entrance although if the ticket barriers are operational ,then an internal wooden gate will draw across dividing the bar into two halves. The interior is impressive with exposed brick along one side with some brick patterns and a very good glazed brick vaulted ceiling. The atmosphere on both sides was lively and clearly folk stay on the street side for a session ,while rail passengers are transitory. The furniture is upmarket as well and it all feels quite hip.
On my trip there were 4 Titanic ales in First Class,Plum Porter,Steerage and a very good Iceberg while the two guests were Nottingham St George and an Oatmeal Stout from a brewer whose pumpclip was too far from the internal barrier for me to make out.But when Titanic beer is available who cares about guests ?
A very decent place for a quick one or possibly a session. It maybe worth missing a train to get the full measure of the place, yet I will most certainly use it again when travelling through.
