Real Ale Ray left this review about Coalhouse

A modest sized one room micro pub housed in a former bookies. There was a hand painted mural on the right hand side wall depicting the days of Seaham's coalmining industry, along with some artefacts around the rest of the pub.
The main bar area was in the right hand corner, serving a choice of five ales on handpump, Great North Eastern Brewing North Sea Bitter, Pennine Millie George and Palinka, Allendale Homegrown English Pale. All the casks were £3.50 a pint, the young barman was very helpful when choosing a beer and made us very welcome.
