My final port of call in Inverness on Friday evening was MacGregor's. As mentioned below, it does have a fairly modern feel. With all tables taken in the main bar area, I elected to grab a stool at the bar. In doing so, I neglected the second room.

However, the main bar appeared to be where all of the action was. A male piano player was in action and was generating a good atmosphere, with a couple of women also getting up to dance, one managed to gyrate her backside against my leg!

Just the single real ale was on - Orkney Northern Light. A couple of other English people also ordered this after me and complaint that it was off, despite them only just putting the barrel on. To my mind, it tasted fine, especially after the sourness of my Blackberry Porter in the 'spoon's up the road. Bar staff did ask my opinion.

Craft beers included Spey Valley Winter Sunshine & Cromarty Ghost Town Porter, Red Rocker & Whiteout. Fizzy ciders were Thistly Cross Traditional & Fruit Cider.

Whilst the interior is modern, the atmosphere generated here was much more typical of a pub. So, it very much worked for me.

Good Beer Guide 2020 entry. Was expecting an old mans pub, so was slightly surprised at this cafe style bright, airy place.

2 cask and around 10 keg. First cask failed, so changed order to a Spey Valley I'm not Bitter David. It looked terrible, but having already been forced into a change once, I was loathe to complain again.

My check in on Untappds prompted the brewery to suggest it was the very dreg of the barrel and I should have taken it back. My argument is that they shouldn't have given it to me in the first place.

Terribly disappointing for a GBG place. How do they get these recommendations?
