This really is the best pub in Plymouth, a "country pub" atmosphere within (fairly) easy reach of the city centre. Numerous well-deserved CAMRA awards, friendly locals, good if limited selection of pub food at lunchtime (with the emphasis on PUB the traditional offerings, definitely not a gastro-pub!). There are a few tables outside if you have children with you with a pleasant outlook. And on the first Thursday of (nearly) every month there is a good-natured, well-attended pub quiz- but get there early if you want to take part because this is a SMALL pub and you may end up standing all night otherwise...not a good idea with all those fantastic real ales on offer!
