though this is a recent shop conversion on the high street it kind of feels like a pub that has been here forever. Very local. Beers served from gravity. All kinds of things pinned to walls. It wasn’t quite as friendly as I expected to be honest but i’m classing it as ‘proper pub’.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Turks Head Inn
I thought that I'd done most of the best pubs in Gloucester previously. But the Turks Head surpasses all of them.
This was the first micropub I'd been to since lockdown and it was busy on my Saturday evening visit, despite its limited size.
4 ales were dispensed from behind the bar by gravity. These were 3D Who Loves Ya Baby, North Cotswold Shakespeare Bard's Best & Cotswold Best & Severn Ruby Porter.
However, it was the vast cider choice that attracted me, so much so that I had to dump the car and head back on foot to get through a few. The full list was Cotswold Cider Company No Brainer, Horn Blower & She Devil, Celtic Marches Ashton Bitters, Broadoak Pheasant Plucker, Orchard Revival Festival, House Medium, House Dry & Pioneer, Snail's Bank Tumbledown, Weston's Rosie's Pig, Rosie's Pig Raspberry & Cucumber, Old Rosie, Family Reserve & Flat Tyre, Sandford Orchards Devon Scrumpy, Thatcher's Cheddar Valley & Taunton Cider Company Original.
There were a few local characters in and the landlady was extremely friendly. No apps to order from, no table service, no one way system, ordering at the bar. Just common sense applied very well.
The Turks Head surpasses the Pelican as the best pub in Gloucester and my plan to visit a few other places went out of the window.
I should also add that they accept CAMRA 50p off per pint vouchers.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Turks Head Inn
A two roomed micro with a small front lounge area and a small bar and seating area at the rear. Four ales served from stillage and four ciders on our Sunday afternoon visit. The barman and locals were friendly and chatty and made visitors most welcome. The main features in here was the collection of old vinyl records stuck on the walls, along with a collection of Toby Jugs hanging from the ceiling over the bar. I think the bright orange corrugated was quite wacky. All of the cask ales are priced at £2.50 a pint on Sundays, so we went for the Parkway Brewery Giggle and Titter and the Goff's Cheltenham Gold.
