The cask has gone now and the place has moved firmly into hipster keg territory – indeed, I was served by a guy who looked like a Stabillo highlighter and had a similar personality. To their benefit there’s a decent selection available and the (high) prices are clearly labelled by the bar. Seating is farily minimal and not exactly comfy. I went for Vocation Mango infused beer which was rather nice. 5.5

Winchester's first micropub. Except it isn't really, it's a minimalist hipster-style bar. Three areas knocked through in a long and narrow interior with stripped wood flooring, olive green walls, exposed brick etc. Seating is classic hipster, stools and junkyard salvaging with many people having to make do with a shelf along the wall. Food is tacos for 7 quid. 14 keg, 2 ciders and 4 cask, with the cask via stillage. Cask choices were Wild Beer Bibble, Tiny Rebel Dirty Stop Out, Church End Goats Milk and Urban Island Citra. A half of the latter was unfortunately stillage-like - fairly flat and unremarkable - though an acquaintance who was in earlier in the day said that the Bibble was in good shape. Prices are clearly labelled on slates to the left of the bar and it was interesting to see that all cask was £4 a pint, regardless of strength. A bonus point was gained by the presence of a continental style water dispenser with free lemon and thyme infused H2o. Very busy at 5pm on Saturday so is clearly filling a niche locally. Noted that The Smiths album was actually playing off a turntable further up the room. These sorts of places often leave me a bit cold - it's fine for what it is and I’ll give it another go as it’s near the station (and the ever-reliable Albion). Rated 6

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Overdraft
Narrow craft beer bar extending back towards a small kitchen. Quite dark inside, and the seating is mainly basic wooden trestle tables / benches, although the small number of pavement tables at the front look more inviting... We caught it on a bit of a bad day because on of the coolers had failed so only six of the 12 craft keg taps were working. Still, a good selection of different styles but expensive; my pint of the Unity x Overdraft Stylus collaboration was about the cheapest offering at £5.40.

A former shop and possibly a micro,as described by others below. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the prices, which don't look too bad until you realise some are for halves or thirds. As Tris C hints, below, this is why it's called 'Overdraft'. 'Street food' was on offer, presumably an alternative name for road kill, but we didn't eat. The ebullient bearded barstaff struggled a bit when a group of us arrived,and we had to shuffle around to avoid blocking the door. There was a good vibe, though, including some rather disturbing discussion about bestio-pornographic YouTube videos which we think was initiated by the likelihood of this pub's Millenial target demographic trying to shock. There was a long array of taps - I think it was around a dozen - dispensing craft ales, none of which I had previously encountered, so I went for one of the two boxed ciders, which would have benefited from being served a bit cooler. Unlike the cider I didn't warm to the place so am unlikely to come back as there are better pubs nearby.
