Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bottle Kiln (JD Wetherspoon)

Recent 'spoons conversion of an imposing former Co-op building, also providing hotel accommodation in the rooms above the large rectangular bar. Open-plan interior, with a row of booths opposite the elongated counter and a semi-open kitchen at the far end. Two banks of six handpumps, but these proved to be duplicate so the choice wasn't as extensive as expected, but my pint of Stonehenge Old Smokey porter was in good shape (and less than advertised at just £1.99, so excellent value).

Having opened on he 28th of March this was one of the newest outlets when I came here last Tuesday. It's a conversion of an old Co-Op and still has their moniker on the top of the front of the building. It's also a hotel with 9 rooms which should do well given the nearby Ferry terminal. It's situated directly opposite Harwich Library. This is the second new Spoons I've visited this year directly adjacent to a library so maybe they are trying to attract a more cerebral daytime brigade, assuming that's not an oxymoron.
Inside it's a large square low ceilinged room with the bar on the near right. There's an enclosed patio at the far left. Some booths are on the immediate left and the right. At the far end is a wide staircase leading to the rooms and (inevitably) the toilets. There is a lift but it only works with a key card for one of the rooms. For a brand new Spoons this one seems to have an old school feel but there's probably only so much you can do with a former supermarket. The clientele seemed to be a mix of retired folk and young families.
The bar has twelve hand pumps which had two available soon (one doubled), the JDW Trio Of Doom doubled up, Pheasantry Mikado Mild doubled up and Wells Bombardier. I thought this was a pathetic choice for a new JDW but luckily I knew the Mikado Mild (£2.55) was a good option and it was in excellent nick.
For me the beer choice let this one down badly and I wouldn't return especially given the remote location.
