The Stag is a Victorian single room pub with high ceilings and plasma screens throughout for showing Sky Sports, which was muted on each screen during my recent Monday evening visit. Some background music was playing, and live music was advertised for weekends. The bar on the rear wall faces seating that runs under the front windows. More seating is found in the right side of the pub where there is a fireplace with a stag’s head mounted above.
Standard keg is available from the bar which also supports four hand pumps. These were drawing Inveralmond’s Lia Fail, Bheira and Ossian alongside Courage Directors. On the food front there is a pizza menu and traditional pub food is served alongside some Scottish favourites which include haggis and skink. The burger is priced at £10. I found the service to be polite and there was a decent sized local crowd for a Monday. I would pop back in here if passing.

A large open-plan street corner bar with traditional features either retained or reproduced. The long bar has four hand pumps in the centre, which included Strathbraan Eighty Bob at the time of my visit, a very good beer in equally good condition. This was my beer of the day - I had a pint on first arriving in the city and came back for another later in the evening. Service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was welcoming; pity about the background music.
