Steve C left this review about The Embassy Tavern

The Embassy Tavern is near Preston Beach and the exterior feels like a seaside pub with Union Jack bunting swaying in the wind. To the left of the pub is a small car park and some picnic tables and at the front there are some covered café tables and chairs. Through the entrance is a seating area where menus can be found on all of the tables. Reasonably priced pub grub is served daily from noon until 20:45. The bar area is located down a couple of steps in the right hand side of the pub where there is a pool table. There are a couple of plasma screens, but I didn’t see any Sky Sports advertisements. There was some music playing in the background, but this was courtesy of Palm FM complete with adverts. A karaoke and disco night was advertised and this pub has a ‘Torbay Taxi Deal’ where a local cab receipt to the pub can be redeemed for £3 or a drink up to the value of £3… Very good idea!!!

I found the service to be friendly and would have no problem returning.

Ale Monster left this review about The Embassy Tavern

This is a small one room local’s pub which is close to the beach at Preston Sands, the interior is a little strange as it is split into two very different areas. As you enter the left hand side of the pub you will see a very modern looking restaurant area with black tables, steel chairs and arty black and white photos from all around the world on the walls. In complete contrast the right hand side of the room is a more traditional public bar area with a leather fronted bar counter stretching along the right hand wall, painted timber beams, two leather sofas opposite the bar, an old TV and standard wooden pub furniture at the front of the room. On the left of the pub is a small paved patio area with a couple of picnic style tables and across the front of the building is a small covered patio.

Two ales on hand pull during this visit which were Bays Gold and Saint Austell Tribute, both seemed ok.

Not a bad place, but personally I think it is too small to have a restaurant and a pub in it, the owners would do better concentrating on one or the other rather than trying to squeeze both into such a small room. I would have preferred it as a simple traditional corner pub and I’m sure it would do well being near to the beach. Ok for a quick drink if your in the area.
