Excellent micro-pub with an apparent total of three tables (although a larger room is available upstairs for busy periods), but a counter with nine handpumps. Six of these were on when I visited, offering four interesting beers - First Chop Hop, Lord Barker from Gun Dog, Hopback Haka and Leatherbritches Raspberry Belter (£3.00, and thankfully not over-flavoured) - plus a couple of cask ciders (with four more in some other draught form also listed). Well worth seeking out.

As noted below this is a "proper" micropub with no music or TVs and it didn't appear to sell any spirits. It was originally a nail bar and the lower room is about average size for a micropub. I didn't investigate upstairs.
There were 4 beers available, Castle Rocxk Black Gold, Fernandes Barley Promise, Kirkstall Pale and Thornbridge Flora & The Griffin. I went for the Barley Promise (£3.00) and Flora & The Griffin (£3.60) both of which were excellent.
I thought this was a very good micropub.

The Lord Hop has the full ethos of what a micropub should be. We called in on a Thurs evening and we were soon chatting away to a couple of regulars and the barman. We immediately choose the Brew Foundation C Bomb 4.2, served from handpump, which was a good session ale, so I stuck to that. They also had on Sperrin Full Mortis 8%, Bad Seed Dazed and Confused Milk Stout and Thornbridge Wild Raven. Prices were around the £3 mark and the Sperrin was £4 for an 8%. There was also a choice of two ciders.
Previously a nail bar, this micro now consists of a good sized room with the bar situated at the far end with the casks along the back wall. The bar was constructed from plywood, with a formica counter and the walls were wallpapered with a turquoise patterned paper.
There was also an upstairs room, which was a good size and had plenty more seating with some chesterfield settees along with the tables and chairs.
We also met the owner on our visit who gave us some good advice on visiting Ashby De La Zouch the next day.
