With a few minutes before my train I called in here for a swift half, spotting the same beer that I'd drunk at Hops D'Amour in Coventry a little earlier: Pitchfork Frogbit - a 4.4% bitter. The fact that this is a much smaller pub with inevitably slower turnover means the comparison is a little unfair, but the beer had been excellent there but here only good. Still worth seeking out, and almost certainly better than anything else in Nuneaton these days.

The best place in Nuneaton - and I gave 5 of them a good go.
A two story micro, with a little bar downstairs. Didn't seem to be much cask on - but the Ossett Brewery White Rat was in good condition and I probably would have gone for a Pale Ale even if there had been wider choice.
Very busy on a Saturday Afternoon. Getting a seat with a table proved a challenge too far.

A first class micro pub in a former street corner shop unit.The ground floor has the bar to the left with stillage barrels connected to the handpumps on the bar,which number 9 in total ,although not all will function together.The rest of the room has small tables surrounded by stools,while close to the door is a raised darts throw (obsured by empty barrels on my trip) with just about enough room for another table.The ground floor is where the regulars will banter with the owner and the atmosphere is friendly and inclusive.A TV screen lists what's on draught and judging by the vast collection of pump clips some very fine ale has been served here.
Upstairs is a quieter seating area and a decent size with more comfortable tables and chairs.No muzak,screens,fruit machines so this place meets all the micro pub criteria.There was also a jar of pickled eggs on the bar.
On my trip the ale selection was Sarah Hughes Surprise,Gun Dog Lord Barker and Bad to the Bone along with a terrific G Brewery Session IPA which the guv'nor warned me was hazy,nice touch.In addition there were 2 real ciders.
This would be my first port of call in Nuneaton for a great pint or three,it's a superb micro and should not be missed.
