Situated uphill behind the town centre this is an attractive looking and indisputably rather old looking street corner pub. Leaning heavily down the gastro route, side rooms and an upper area had tables set for dining, the central bar in the main L-shaped ground floor room is still the focal point but there is a food servery around the corner where the room opens out and terminates with a glass walled set of shelves of wine bottles. Back to the bar area, a few steps drop down following the hill to a lower area with a slate floor and a few board games on a shelf.
Beers on were Tim Taylor's Landlord, Doom Bar, Hog's Back TEA and Crafty Brewery Crafty One, never heard of it before, mediocre is a compliment especially at well over 4 quid.
The pub was far too busy to review beyond this but I saw little to entice me back at a quieter time.

The March Hare is a decent looking pub that is on a fairly steep hill and close to Guildford Castle.
Once inside the bar faces in an oblong shaped room to the front, the right side is down steps and is bare boarded, there is bench seating and chairs in this area, the rear left area is larger and set for diners, there is also an upstairs area which was not in use on my Saturday afternoon visit.
The pub was very busy with diners, but as a drinker i was made just as welcome.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Crafty Brewery Loxhill Biscuit, which went down well, the other real ales were Taylor Landlord,Hogs Back TEA and Doom Bar.
I thought this was a pleasant pub to have a drink in.

Describes itself as "A unique combination of traditional pub and French brasserie with an English twist". They may well be right, it definitely leans toward the gastro side of things but as you enter from either of the two entrances you enter into the more pubby bar area with wooden flooring, a small lower area from one of the doors, some seating as well as bar stools along the reasonably lengthy bar. The room doglegs around to a more restaurant'y area but it is a fairly seamless change with a modern decor flowing throughout. There is also an upper level dining area by way of a staircase. On the bar three ales were available, Doom bore, Pride and a saviour in the form of Surrey Hills Shere Drop which was in tip top condition at I think about £3.80 , under £4.00 anyway which surprised(pleasantly) me in such a set up, also available on keg was Meantime Pale Ale along with a couple of Lagers(Amstel and Kronenburg) and Symonds Founders Reserve Cider.
Not the normal type of haunt I would frequent but I found it quite relaxing and enjoyable here, better than I was expecting.
