Quite a modest sized 'spoons in a shop conversion,it extends back quite a way and has a series of seating booths on the front left side with the bar to the right. It's an identikit design, could be anywhere in the UK and lacks atmosphere.
There was a very poor selection of real ale ,with regulars GK Abbott,Ruddles Best and Doom Bar all doubled up.The guests on my trip were Burton Bridge Santi Freeze and Wychwood Bah Humbug ,again doubled up.
Nothing to see here, there are far better options not far away.

A long narrow modern Wetherspoon 's that has not been open very long. On my visit there were 10 real ales and 2 ciders on tap. There is nothing special about this pub but at least it has a good selection of ales and ciders

The Dairyman is at the time of writing the UK's newest Spoons having opened on Tuesday the 18th November 2014. It is set at the Eastern end of Brentwood High Street next door to Argos and was previously a Pizza Hut. It is very conveniently close to the bus stops.
Inside it is a single large room which they've clearly made an effort to make it look somewhat different from the norm with a modern decor, some exposed brickwork and a variety of table and seating arrangements.
A good thing is that the four gaming machines have been placed together in a corner making them much less visible. The bar is down the right hand side and has two banks of six hand pumps. Although it had only been open for three days on my visit there were two of these unclipped plus Oakham JHB, Doom Bore and Elgood's Cambridge Bitter "Available Soon". The beers available were the two usual GK ones, Broadside, Snecklifter, Exe Valley Exeter Old Bitter, Naylor's Old and Lymestone Pudding Stone. I tried the Exeter Old (£2.49), Pudding Stone (£2.49) and the Naylor's Old (£2.69) all of which were in first class condition. It's on the expensive side for a Spoons, 50p a pint dearer than the Romford Moon and Stars and the Fish Friday was advertised at £7.25 with a drink, more then two pounds dearer than Romford. One big plus is that the toilets are not stuck up a narrow staircase but at ground level.
They've probably done as well as they can with what is at the end of the day just a shop unit. I've never been for a drink in Brentwood before but I would be surprised if there is a better beer selection anywhere else.
