For me, this micropub and off license was the highlight of this trip to Sheffield. After climbing up the hill from the Blind Monkey, I thought that we thoroughly deserved a beer.
Just a couple of cask ales were on, but both were kept in excellent condition. They were Shiny Lil Wingman & Black Jack Early-Days Northern Porter. The cider was Ascension Pilot. Meanwhile, craft beers were New Bristol Wonderland, Hammerton Paw Paw, Redwillow Perceptionless x Citra, Shiny Shorty & Crossover Morillon. Fridges against the side wall also had an excellent range of bottles and cans.
The owner/barman was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about beers. This place now opens 6 days a week (closed Monday). I'm really surprised that it no longer makes the Good Beer Guide (last in the Guide in 2018). They must have upset the local branch. As a casual visitor, I was impressed.

Sheffield's first micropub, and the smallest I've been in - or maybe it seemed that way because it was quite busy. Open just two days a week, between 2 and 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Unfortunately, when we visited at 8pm last Saturday, all the cask ale had been sold. They have three beers, priced at £2.70 a pint,in jacketed barrels on a stillage behind the bar, which is a fairly rudimentary and (I hope) temporary construction. Some chiller cabinets to the left hold a variety of bottled beers, which the other customers were tucking into. We'll have to try getting here earlier in future.
The above was from 29th October 2014. A subsequent visit, on a Friday, found cask ale available from the barrels behind the makeshift bar, where a laptop computer functions as a cash register of sorts. The owners describe this as an off-licence rather than a micropub, seemingly, but there were plenty of people in here drinking and I didn't see anyone come in for bottles to take home.
