This used to be a hotel but I am not sure if they still have rooms available or not. Claim to be a pub and restaurant and that certainly is true. Not part of a chain they tender for taste and basic dishes to attract their clientele - and it works. We were there on a Saturday evening and because they had a large party taken over the Restaurant room there were very few seats available but despite the high numbers of eaters the food came very quickly. They have most main pub food groups at under £10 a dish and only the steaks and more exotic dishes costing more. However, except on a Sunday they currently offer two dishes for £12.
Now the food that comes @ £6 per plate is amazing. Quality is top class and the size and presentation were certainly on a par with other establishments I have utilised but at a fraction of the price. My wife went for Braised Steak, chips and veg and the portion was too big for her to finish but the streak fell apart (which is the way she likes it). I went for Hunter's Chicken, chips and salad and again full by the time I finished.
Unfortunately, that left no room for deserts which were also on offer at two for £6. even without the offer the actual dish price was not that much more and we really wanted to see the size of portions but we will have to hold that one until our next visit.
Drinks were also reasonable price and most varieties were available and whilst Clock Face may not be the most salubrious hamlet on the planet the building is quite imposing and it won't be too long before we return.
