This Slug & Lettuce is a large pub with a long bar counter that faces open plan seating that has a flowery décor, which I imagine came out of a hen party magazine. At the rear is a small cocktail bar counter, but I decided to have half a Camden Helles which was my most expensive drink of the day at £3.35 for a half. This place is what it is, and was a welcome break from all the local characterful pubs that require more extensive notes. The service was very friendly from the two barmen, but I don’t plan on returning as this place isn’t aimed at me.

Newly-opened Slug in the redeveloped Castle heritage site. L-shaped in layout, with the usual upmarket bar touches including a mirrored bar back. A couple of ales on, my Oxfordshire Pride of Oxford was terrible and may well have been on since opening the week prior. Otherwise, the usual keg and spirit offerings. Change was given back on a silver tray. Urgh. One to avoid.

Yes worth a visit it was happy hour got a bottle of wine and sat on the roof terrace. The wife was happy with that
