The Dodbrooke Inn is a small back street local , tucked away some way back from the main Quay side of Kingsbridge, on a quiet side road. I only found it because I was playing the tourist and doing the Kingsbridge Town trail and it’s mentioned in there.
It’s a good solid Ale house with traditional pub décor and a good collection of old black and white photo’s of Kingsbridge and the surrounds. One bar but two distinct areas either side, one with a large wood burning fireplace. The beers on during my visit were Dartmoor IPA, Sharps Doombar , Draught Bass, and Spitfire, and the ones I tried were well kept.
It is a bit of a local’s local pub in that those collected up the bar turn round to give you a stare as you walk in. But they were harmless enough and I guess the attention is primarily because the pub is well away from the main tourist area so they probably don’t get too many strangers dropping in.
But in conclusion, a very tidy comfortable back street local ale house and worth searching out if you are in Kingsbridge.

The Dodbrooke is a small, friendly pub, with no loud music or gaming machines, with excellent beers chosen from a mixture of local and national brews, and excellent food cooked on the premises. The steaks are especially good, and the fish is fresh from local suppliers and of very high quality. There are many locals in the pub but they are extremely friendly and overall, this gem of an alehouse is a really special place to spend an evening.

Obviously a locals pub. I only live 4 miles away but felt when I walked in that I had invaded someones personal space. Did not stay.
