Definitely the largest micro I have visited. You enter the premises into a long narrow drinking area at the front and at the rear you will find a good sized bar and a further seating area, along with a small kitchen that produces artisan pizzas at weekends. All the beers were racked up on stillage, four ales on our visit, but the majority of their beers were craft keg, ten in all, plus the equivalent amount of ciders and perries. We went for the Bristol Beer Factory and Arbor Pocket Rocket, both were in good condition, but served too cold for me. I can only presume that the cask and craft beers are all served by the same temperate cooling system, which meant I had to sit there for several minutes, freezing my hands off trying to raise the temperature of the beer. At one point I also had to put my pint on the radiator behind me. So if the beer was on handpump and had better temps, I would have definitely scored higher, plus the beer choices were good and the owner was most welcoming.

A larger than average micropub in a stand alone building that goes deeper than expected. The bar counter is to the rear on the right, with an impressive chilled stillage cabinet behind. There is room for up to ten casks to be racked, with five usually available at any one time. Mindful of the suggestions made to me by Camra members on their Discourse forum, I decided to try a quality beer, in an attempt to open my mind to the possibility that my slogan "cask ale good, keg beer bad" may have been a little too non-inclusive. My half of Lucky 7 Cascadian Black IPA was a little stronger than I tend to go for when cycling, but at least I wasn't likely to drink it too quickly, bearing in mind how cold and gassy it was. I've had quite a few examples of the black IPA style, some cask, some bottled, but this is the only one I have been unable to form an opinion of, on account of it being so cold and gassy. Now that the Revitalisation campaign is a thing of the past, perhaps I'll go back to drinking beers that I think I might like, rather than bothering about what other people think. This is an excellent pub, with a vast range of beers and ciders, available in many different containers. Get yourselves down here and try for yourselves!

Called in while attending the nearby CAMRA festival, and very impressed with what they called "Beer on the Eign" their modest beer festival running the same time as Beer on the Wye at the rowing club nearby. Although it is listed as a micropub, it is very roomy inside and the biggest micro pub we have been in, but very impressive way of dispensing their beers from a racked stillage behind the long bar. We tried a couple from Errant and Track breweries which were very good. Welcome addition to Hereford.
