This German-themed bar can be found on the edge of the Liverpool One shopping centre. According to their website, it's part of a chain with 5 outlets in the Midlands and the North. I also read on their website that there are 4 separate drinking areas. Apparently we found our way to "The Lodge" and somehow missed the Bierkeller itself, Shooters and The Biergarten. When we visited, I had no idea it was so large.
The Lodge part is reached by heading up the steps towards Chavasse Park. It is fairly light and airy with plenty of tables and seating. The bar is on the rear wall, with an open kitchen serving God knows what to the rear right.
The beer selection is all keg - Madri, Carling Black Fruits, Coors, Erdinger, Guinness, Pravha, Haus Bier, Corona, Stella, Krombacher, Love Lane Pale, Sharp's Cold River, Fruli, Staropramen & Hoffbrau.
After a lengthy wait to be served (the guy in front of me ordered a stein and some other drink before realising that they only accepted cash as payment and was in need of a cash machine), I ordered the Haus Bier. The barmaid had no idea of its provenance, but it turned out to be a very undistinguished lager.
For a Saturday morning, this place was quite busy. However, it's really not my scene and I'd only return to try to locate the other areas I somehow missed. Hopefully if I do return they will still have the Love Lane Pale on, as I would struggle otherwise.

A trio of bars catering for the easily pleased, limited attention span crowd that would tend to go drinking in this area of Liverpool. it’s loud, brash and garish though this was on a Saturday. The Around The World bar may be the best but it was ruined by the expensive beer and overwhelming stench of cooked food. The other two bars were packed and unbearably loud. This is basically an anti-pub and to be avoided at all costs on a weekend.

This is actually 3 bars under one roof, The Bier Keller, Around The World In 80 Beers and Shooters Sports Bar. The main moniker out front is The Bier Keller. Some real ales in the Bier Keller part and mostly world beers in all of them.
