The Quarry Bar is no longer. Now called The Manor. It looked closed when I took photos yesterday but who knows....the shutters were certainly down when I saw it. Comments anyone?

As previously noted the Quarry is a "rough and ready bar" located just a few minutes from Hamilton Central station(side exit) To be fair the owners have been trying to change the bar and have in the last year or so managed to book some really good heavy rock bands , but when no band is on the bar tends to bee pretty empty and can at times be frequented by some dodgy types (being shown the massive scars from a recent "knifing" by a local is not the type of ambiance I am looking for in my pubs). A strange bar in many ways as it is also an off license and the bar staff can suddenly disappear to serve there (the of license is connected to the bar) for 5-10 minutes to sell another bottle of Buckfast. The bar has been closed a lot recently I hear it either closing or will be re opening again in a new format, I hope for the latter as its a nicely placed bar near the train station and town centre - Avoid unless a band is on.

A rough and ready little hostelry, with clientele to match on my Friday evening visit. This used to be called “The Long Bar,” for the good reason that it consists of one long, narrow room with the service area next to the entrance and seating along the opposite wall. It widens out a bit towards the back, where a pool table, a games machine and the toilets are to be found. A rock band was also in the process of setting up there while I drank my pint. At £2.90 for Tennent’s lager, it’s not particularly cheap considering the rather basic surroundings. Tartan Special, McEwan’s 60 Shilling, Carlsberg lager, Guinness and Magner’s cider are also on tap. Although it was busy with obviously regular customers, this is certainly not one of the better drinking options in Hamilton town centre.
