ROB Camra left this review about The Potting Shed

This is now one of the Potting shed chain and it also shares the amenities with its sister bar Firepit above. Internal signs say the this is all one place with 2 floors, so there's no need to add Firepit as a separate entry. It's very spacious and nicely done, but there was no atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon despite there being a folk band on. This place is aimed a specific type of person and demographic and I don't think we qualified on either count. My pint was pretty expensive and just OK as was Ms CAMRA's red wine. Won't be calling in here next time we're in Southport.

Al Bundy left this review about The Sandgrounder

UPDATE: Is now called The Potting Shed. The interior has been totally redone and now, naturally, has a garden theme. Booth seating by the windows to the right are done up as garden gazebos and these have been given the names - Marigold, Hydrangea, Buttercup and Forget-me-nots. Lots of wood panels and pillars dotted around. The bar is to the left and is long and extendeds to an open kitchen at the far end. 4 handpulls on the bar but only 2 beers on from Beer Monkey and the rest of the fonts for fizzy lager-a-likes. Not too bad a place.

26/10/15:
A Wetherspoons wannabe and to honest not too bad a place. I think it used to be a Yates's but I might be wrong there. Real ale available.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Sandgrounder

Sandgrounder is the name given to a person who is from Southport, as Southport is built on a bed of sand. This large corner pub has a modern interior. There was a long servery on the left as you enter, made from ash. The feature walls were wallpapered and all the internal window areas along the front and sides were finished with a light mint colour. The ceiling areas had some cornice work and some walls were painted in plum.
The barmaid was friendly and welcoming and explained to us, as we were in before 12pm, a pint was £2. After 12pm a pint of ale costs £2.30.
There were three pumps, we went for the Peerless Hilbre Gold and Burscough I Would Hop 500 Gyldes. Their permanent ale was Peerless Full Whack, which was £2.50 as it was 6%.
