A decent sized pub, with plenty of seating areas. The interior was in three sections, the front part with a good view out on to the pedestrian high street, the middle section with the bar area running along the left hand wall, and the rear section with a high timber clad vaulted ceiling. The paint work was predominantly greys and whites. Furnishings included upholstered chairs and booths finished in plain along with some tartan. The bar was finished in oak and had a black and white tiled floor in front of the counter.
Eight handpumps, serving seven ales and one cider. We went for the Kelham Island Pale Rider and the Easy Rider.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Phoenix

A 'bigger than it looks' Stonegate pub with a slightly split-level (but wheelchair accessible) layout that stretches back some way and which has been extended into an adjoining building. Thoroughly modernised and brightly lit interior with a mix of furniture in the various seating areas. You also pass quite a few tables on the front pedestrianised zone as you enter. Various food offers from the standard menu. Surprisingly, not only are there eight handpumps on the counter but they were also all operational, offering Pedigree, Old Speckled Hen, Abbot, Purity Pure UBU, Duck & Cover from Green Duck, two from Backyard - Blonde (£2.57 with a 10% Camra discount) and The Hoard - and a Lilley's cider.

This looks like a shop conversion and is a Stonegate pub. It's set on three levels with the bar on the middle level. The whole place is divided up into smaller areas although it is a single room. I noticed they do food here at very similar prices to Wetherspoon but the Full English is actually cheaper than the JDW large breakfast. I spotted a few TVs one of which was playing music videos with the sound on and the others were muted which was just as well as they were on different channels. The three hand pumps have the largest swan necks I've ever seen standing almost as tall as the handles. Sadly the beer choice was mainstream, Pedigree, Hobgoblin or Old Speckled Hen. I went for the Pedigree (£2.30) a beer I haven't tried for years and thought it was quite dull compared to what I remembered. If I had noticed the CAMRA discount it would have become cheaper than the two Spoons and this place is a bit like a small JDW. Sadly the limited and dull beer choice lets it down and I wouldn't bother returning.
