Visited in November 2017. Seven hand pumps at the bar and a chap was working hard serving and changing barrels over etc. At the time of my visit there was one stout on, others were bitters, pales and IPA so a nice selection to go at. Pricing was £1.45 / £1.60 for a half presumably based on strength. Great selection of their own ales and would love to go back some time. Not too busy on my weekday lunch time visit but the tables started to fill up. In addition to the first floor area there was one table on the ground floor. The only other thing on the ground floor is the toilets.

Real ale wise, excellent. Even though its mostly Irwell Brewery stuff plus a Millstone mild it has a great variety of ales on draught. 8 handpumps for the cask ale. It also has 3 cider pumps. The bar is upstairs and only small and a veranda is out to the side of the place. There is a small area with a couple of benches as you walk in.

The building dates back to 1855 and was formerly The Irwell Steam,Tin,Copper and Iron Works and with being in the part of town that is a conservation area has been sympathetically restored, with work starting in July 2010 and the doors finally opening up to the public in August 2011.
The accual brewery is on the ground floor, and as you enter there is a window for you to view the interior of the brewery and it's equipment. Also on the ground floor are the toilets, and an old clocking in machine that was probably used when it was the iron works. The bar is to your right after ascending the small flight of stairs, and offers an excellent selection of handpumped well kept beers, most of which are the Steam Plate Beer brewed on the premises, there is also a selection of Belgium bottled beers to go at. The one roomed bar has plenty of light,a good atmosphere and friendly barstaff and just enough wooded furniture to give it a homely feel. There is also a large barrel in the centre of the room and an adequate number of old photos and prints on the wall of old Ramsbottom.
Check the times of opening because at one stage it only opened from Thursday to Sunday, leaving the other 3 days open for brewing, but things could have changed
