Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Corn Exchange (JD Wetherspoon)

Very impressive building, with the 'spoons facilities at first-floor level above a range of other shops so not as large inside as one might expect but plenty of interest wherever you sit. However, the beer selection was particularly poor during my post-coronavirus visit, although my dodgy pint of Oakham JHB was quickly replaced with an Old Speckled Hen with very good grace.

As noted below this is situated in the grand old Victorian Corn Exchange which is a listed building. The fact that the lower part of the building consists of shops and that this JDW is situated in a room built into the upper half of the original building means that to me it just looks weird. I could see no sign of any air conditioning which made me wonder what it would be like in Scorchio weather.
Although there are ten hand pumps the choice was dismal with one broken, two unused, one available soon, Ruddles, Doom Bore, Pedigree, Jennings Cumberland, Woodforde Wherry and Wainwright Rat Race a third offering from the Marston stable. I had a bottle of Oakham Green Devil instead (£2.99).
All in all I thought this one was pretty hopeless.

A large and relatively recent Wetherspoon’s in the centre of Bury, this is, as it’s name suggests, in the old Corn Exchange building and harks back to their earlier days of doing sympathetic conversions of grand old building as opposed to many of their more recent shop conversions. Certainly the entranceway with it’s many stone pillars is an impressive sight, although once inside it loses something when you’re immediately faced with a partition wall and staircases either side. In actual fact a false floor has been added, with the pub upstairs and a number of shop units downstairs.

Once you get upstairs to the pub it’s quite impressive with a large glass arched roof, and elaborate stone columns forming arches along either side of the pub, although the fact that only the top of the columns are now visible with the elaborate collars being at knee height, does perhaps look a little odd. The bar counter was at the far end whilst a real fire place with a stack of logs ready for the colder weather was at the other. Bar service was a bit hit and miss, and dirty plates were left on tables for some time without being cleared, despite serving staff walking past empty handed.

Beers on tap were Adnams Mosaic Pale Ale, Titanic Iceberg, Defender, Greene King IPA, Doom Bar, Abbott Ale and Woodfordes Wherry, with two more apparently “coming soon”. Ciders were well represented with Strongbow Dark Fruit, Magners, Aspall’s Suffolk, Stowford Press and Strongbow.
