Surprisingly large pub, with a collection of different rooms and areas arranged round the central elliptical bar, and a restaurant area in a side room behind a large chimney. The whole place has good, traditional furnishings and is clean and tidy, but with a nice, comfortable feel helped by the beams and old walls. Outside there are a few tables in a former part of the car park. Draught beers were Tribute, Betty Stogs and Bath Gem and condition was fine (Cask Marque). Food not sampled but seemed popular and sounded good. Definitely a good village pub.

What a find this pub was. I caught the 35 bus that runs between Falmouth and Helston to start a walk from Mawnan Smith and it drops off at this pub, so I popped in for a half. It is a lovely pub with a central bar serving many rooms, linked by open plan doorways with "duck or grouse" written in the beam above your head as you pass through. The walls have scripts written that are so amusing, but I hadn't time to wander round reading them all. Friendly locals told me it had been 5 cottages and some of the original features were still there. It is very clean and tidy and the rooms are well laid out so some are for dining. I enjoyed a half of Caledonian Golden XPA here, and as it was still open when I finished my 4 mile circular walk I had time for another half before catching the bus to Helston.
