The Mall is the only pub in the centre of Woodhall Spa, although there is a small bar which we didn't investigate. The bulk of the building is given over to eating with only a small bar to the left on entry.
The welcome is friendly but the beer range limited. Directors, Batemans XB and John Smiths Cask are regulars with Butcombes Mendip Spring guesting on our visit. This was fine but not inspiring.
I'm sure that this is reasonable place to eat but I would't recommend it as a venue for a real ale session.

A large Victorian building with unusually steep entrance step and tree branch supports to the portico, there is an immediate choice ;left to the public bar, right to the restaurant. We had already sussed the curry house so decided not to eat making Hobsons choice to veer left. The public bar had lots of sofas, some bench seating and a few tables.A flat screen was playing ITV4 ,there was a fruit machine yet also a fine stained glass window pane in one corner and similar stained glass inset into the bar door.Comfortable if undistinguished.
Four handpumps dispensed a dull range of real ales,my Butcombe Mendip Spring seemed the best option but pricey (£3.40) and unmemorable.
The restaurant side of the bar did have some seating close to the island bar if you wanted a quieter spot and views of punters tucking into the substantial pub staples offerings ,mains generally £7 -£11 or so.
Pleasant bar staff helped to elevate the evening but I am not sure I would rush back here with such an unimaginative ale range in place.
