The Royal George is a grade II listed eighteenth century traditional fisherman’s inn, situated riverside in Appledore, and like the Beaver Inn, it too enjoys stunning views of the Taw and Torridge estuary.
It’s located virtually next door to the Beaver Inn so the comments about walking the local surrounds apply here as well.
It struck me as being a bit more food orientated and the main section of the pub overlooking the estuary was laid for dining. As we had eaten already next door and as far as I could see there was only one ale pump which was reversed at the time , we did not bother with this one and strolled back to the village centre. So I will not leave a rating.

Although I haven't visited this pub for some years, it has the most superb views across the estuary. The food was always good, the beer invariably excellent. If I lived in the area, this would be my ideal local.

Superb restaurant with fantastic staff in one of the most scenic locations anywhere, check out the panoramas shown in the pictures from the dining room and the beer garden. Draft Bass was the only ale served, but it is always nice.
