Given that this is a former coaching inn on a major holiday route, it was actually surprisingly good. The large car park at the side is well constructed and predictably full of grockle traffic, while the outside looks a it corporate and modern, attractive to families and the holiday trade. You enter the front through modern plastic doors to be greeted by a PYT holding a menu – great if you want a dining experience but unnecessary if all you want is a beer. The main bar area is laid to table so it does feel a bit like a chain pub, though there is a smaller, proper bar at the side with a pool table, dart board and TV. Dogs are welcomed as are children, though preferably not together. The staff were friendly. There were 2 ales on draught, Otter Amber and Otter Bitter, not cheap but that is to be expected. The ale wasn’t in great condition but was drinkable. It’s handy as a pit stop or for a quick lunch, but the ale condition doesn’t make it a great evening venue.

Fantastic wayside In for holiday makers with large easily accessed car park, children and dog friendly.
Real Ale is usually Otter Ale but they also carry a good varied range of Keg Beers and Lagers.
Wide ranging Menu from Butties to Steaks.
