On the edge of the village and with a country pub feel to it, the Rising Sun is a welcome sight if you've walked out of Wirksworth to reach it. It's had a fairly recent refurbishment and looks very smart for it. I was here during a midweek afternoon lull, but there were a few drinkers gathered around the bar.

There were six hand pumps offering five different real ales: Marstons Pedigree, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Sharps Doom Bar and two from Blue Monkey. I had one of the Blue Monkey beers, Marmoset, which wasn't really to my taste but was in good condition. It would have been nice to see a mild or a porter - do they really need to have both pedigree and Landlord on at the same time? That said, this was a pleasant enough pub after the disappointments of Wirksworth town centre and I may find myself back here sooner or later.

The Rising Sun is a decent looking pub that is situated on a crossroads at the bottom of the hill in Middleton.
The pub still had its old Ansells signs outside, but there were no Ansells beers on the bar, once inside this pub was quite smart with an olde worlde feel to it,the main room was carpeted and had comfortable seating.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Pedigree, this was a decent enough drink.
I thought this was a pleasant enough pub to have a couple of drinks in.
