Will Larter left this review about Waggon & Horses

A food-oriented village pub, seemingly relying on passing trade or people making the trip after making a booking for what I would call lunch, to judge by the number of cars parked outside not long after opening time. Instructions in the doorway required us to ring the bell and wait, and we were then shown to a table - "just sit here for me" - and had to order our pints of Timothy Taylor Landlord while sitting down. Really, the Covid restrictions did bring out the worst in some people; and at the time of our visit there was no need to impose table service. Luckily it wasn't my round, otherwise I'd have blenched at the price of £4.30 a pint - I know Landlord tends to be dearer than other beers, but this is South Yorkshire! Sheffield, even.

The pub appears to be made out of three cottages, to judge by the multiroomed layout; any beams had been boxed in and painted, as had the stone walls where the plaster had been removed. Service was friendly, and apart from the smell of fried fish and the need for "just-sit-here-for-me" to go and do some customer service training, it was an ok pub. And considering the difficulty in getting here by public transport, it's lucky we don't have to come back.
