Very busy when we called in for a quick break from the madness of the M1. As I was driving I didn't take much notice of the beers although my brother did say his very good! At least 4 guest ales on. Nice outdoor area. I'd happily call again.

Not a great deal for me to add as the two reviews from 2017 pretty much sum the place up. A modern Spoons with nice modern décor, open plan but feels like a bit of a warren with different seating areas. A pleasant patio to the rear is accessed through what feels like a dining area. This had a nice pergola with greenery growing up it and in the summer almost feels like you are abroad.

At the bar there are two banks of five hand pumps, one bank contained all the guest ales and the other contained the usual Spoons trio plus two ciders. My half of Osset Summer Fruits set me back the grand sum of £1.15.

I did discover lipstick (not mine) on my glass as I had almost finished my drink. This did not impress me. But otherwise a pleasant Spoons and a decent selection of real ales at a time when I have noticed many other Spoons have been cutting back on the choice by duplicating beers across the banks.

The bogs were nice and clean (and as is traditional for a Spoons, upstairs) although only one of the two hand driers was working (now you know I am a good boy and wash my hands).

This and the Commercial are really the only pubs that have tempted me in Chapeltown; they are both very different pubs but both worth a visit if you are a real ale drinker.

The Waggon & Horses is an original pub but dating from 2013 as a Spoons. It's a roughly square room with what looks like a new conservatory area at the rear with a paved patio behind. As tends to be the case with newer Spoons the fixtures and fittings are a bit better than average. It was fairly quiet on a Thursday afternoon. Thankfully it's not a Lloyds No 1 so the lighting rig and idiot booth are long gone.
The bar has ten hand pumps but the choice could have been better consisting of the JDW Trio Of Doom with Abbot & Doom Bore doubled, Ossett Snake Mocha & Big Red, Saltaire Cascade Pale, Sheffield Crucible Best and a cider. I went for the Snake Mocha and also the Vindaloo from the Curry Club both of which were fine.
I thought this was a decent Spoons.
