The Queens Head is split into three sections across its width with a bar area and L-shaped counter to the right, a seating area to the left and further left is another small seating area with armchairs, a fireplace and a cupboard full of books. Back in the bar area there is banquette seating along the front and either side of a fireplace along the right. On the rear wall is a small TV that was showing Sky Sports. The bar supports standard and premium keg along with a couple of Beavertown lagers. Two of the five hand pumps were in operation drawing Robinson’s Dizzy Blonde and Otter Bitter. In the rear is a sports area to the right where a larger television is found next to a dartboard and bar billiards. A second bar is found to the left with a serving counter that faces rearwards towards some seating. Here is more keg and another unused hand pump. The service was polite. This place was OK so I’d pop back in if passing.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Queens Head

With plenty of time before my train, I thought I'd try somewhere where I might find something a little different in regards to real ale.

The Queen's Head is located a short distance slightly uphill from the town centre. A rope at the entrance ensures that customers are accommodated safely and that they have followed all track and trace procedures.

Once inside, there is a main room at the front, with further smaller rooms behind the central bar. Sports were being shown on a few TVs and there was one other customer, who turned out to be a bit of a pub tourist like myself. Another younger customer also arrived whilst I was there.

5 real ales were available - Harvest Pale, Directors, Broadside, Landlord & Ten Fifty. Whilst most were fairly mainstream, I hadn't had Ten Fifty for quite a time. So, that was my choice.

A better than average pub with friendly staff and customers, that I was glad I added onto my crawl.

The Queens Head is quite close to the Fox and Hounds.
This pub is completly unaltered inside and still had Manns on its pub sign.
Once inside there is a smallish L shaped area to the front right, the bar faced, there was a long oblong shaped room which was up a few steps to the front left, there is a seperate bar to the rear left, the front rooms were carpeted and had beamed ceilings, the seating was comfy bench type and chairs.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Black Sheep bitter which was a decent well kept beer, the other beers were Adnams Ghost Ship,Doom Bar and GK IPA.
There was some modern type background music playing, which seemed not quite right in a pub like this.
This is a decent pub that i would happily revisit.
