An ancient village pub which has largely become restaurant but still has a very cosy bar, low ceilinged, beamed and comfortably aged. The restaurant part rambles off through various rooms to the other side and is equally antiquated, with a good woody feel. Outdoors is restricted to rows of benches out the front. Two ales on: Black Sheep Best and Laine's Top House Tipple, in good order. The food looked good and it's certainly nice enough here for a pint or two.

Visited on a weekday evening in November, around 6pm or so. Pleasant cosy feeling pub. Three real ales available - Hop For Heroes by Rudgate, 61 Deep by Marstons, and good old Black Sheep (pretty much compulsory round these parts). I had the Hop For Heroes which was OK, at £1.90 for a half.

I stayed for food and ordered the shoulder of mutton with mash, which was around the £14.95 mark. Not bargain basement, but it was nice food.

Seemed to be mainly locals in at the time of my visit. Ale choice could have been more adventurous, but it's a nice pub.
