Our final stop in Herefordshire was this quiet village pub, with 2 or 3 rooms and a garden at the rear.

There were very few customers present. In fact, I counted more spiders (6 in total) in the outside gents. I'm not sure they'd still win any toilet awards with such an array of arachnids.

The only food being served was for take-away. So, most of those present appeared to have polystyrene cartons in front of them.

The real ale selection was also disappointing, with just Butty Bach available. A nice enough pub, that is perhaps not yet back to full strength following lockdown.

Large country pub that’s perhaps more akin to a manor house that’s opened up its doors and installed a bar. There’s a nice stained glass in porch entrance, leading into a small bar area that held a smattering of locals on my Friday lunchtime visit. To the right is a much larger room for formal dining. There’s a 1950s décor vibe in here with the air of a drawing room, wood panelling and muted colours. Some fairly tasteful modern art was hung on the walls and offered for sale. To the rear is a large and well-tended grassed garden, incorporating a pitch of some sort (boules?). Three ales on, Wye Valley Butty Bach, Hobsons Bitter (in very drinkable form) and a guest from Mulburry Duck (good). Posh gents (dig the black sink), winner of the Good Pub Guide ‘outside loo’ award. We ate here and the clearly home-made food with decent value mains kept us happy. The presence of the licensee’s two young sons (one of whom did a passable impression of a Midwich Cuckoo, appearing and staring at us through the window whilst we tried to eat) was rather off-putting though. Overall, a decent place though whether you’d want to stop at this GBG 2014 listed outlet just to drink is perhaps a moot point.
