A large, food-oriented pub by the crossroads at the church end of the village. Having said which, there are a surprising six hand pumps on the bar, with four beers available (see photo). My half of Gold Star from the revived Shipstones brewery was in good shape but quite expensive compared with the other two pubs in the village that were open this mid-January midweek lunchtime: £2.15 for a half compared with £1.90. This pub looks like it has been extended in a couple of directions and it's hard to envisage what the original pub would have been like - from inside, this could almost be a new-build Marstons or Greene King Hungry Horse on an out of town retail park. The loud background music contributed to this, though there were some interesting pictures on the walls, and the wallpaper was based on a design featuring bees, which is not something you see every day.

This is a large pub on the main road into Ockbrook once inside the pub was quite smart and a lot of tables were set up for diners but drinkers were made very welcome this used to be an Ind Coope house years ago now it seems more of a Greene King pub with a few of their beers on the bar i had GK IPA which was ok but nothing special
