This pub is somewhat tucked out of the way and not at all visible from the road, and thus is not the easiest place to find but is something of a hidden gem and is well worth making the effort to track it down. Besides the entrance from the road, if you fancy a hike across the fields there is also an equally hidden back entrance at the end of the garden. A small stream running alongside means it might loosely be described as Nailsea’s only riverside pub.

As it’s name suggests, this indeed an atmospheric old barn, split in to two rooms internally. There is a vaulted roof who’s mass of cobwebs are a bit of a feature and a long bar counter running along the back wall in the left hand room. Flooring is mostly carpet with some quarry tiling in front of the brick built bar counter, whilst the walls are a mixture of old wallpaper and exposed stonework. A plasma at the end of the bar was showing the football which seemed a little out of place perhaps, but the volume was off so this was not too intrusive. The pub might well be described as cluttered with a mix of pictures all over the walls, many of them portraits of old movie stars and sportsmen as well as old pictures of the locale. All sort of bits and pieces filled up every available surface including a collection of miniature whisky bottles and a model merry-go-round, as well as the more usual copper pots, old clocks, a bookcase and an ancient old cash register that is still in use.

The outside area is extensive and includes a large covered seating area complete with leather sofas as well as the more common picnic benches. In the warmer months there is often a barbeque out here. The pub have really gone to town with their Christmas decorations that include illuminated festive scenes along the entrance way, a large nativity scene next to the pub and all manner of decorations inside including a very large tree stretching up in to the rafters, snowmen, polar bears, cushions on the chairs embroidered with Christmas Puddings and even a mounted reindeer head on the wall.

Beers are all served up from barrels racked up behind the bar and on this occasion included Butcombe, London Pride, Twisted Oak Spun Gold and Old Barn Ruby. Ciders were well represented with Thatcher’s Dry (still and sparkling versions), Cornish Rattler and Ashton Press. All in all, a cracking pub and well worth a visit.

Almost impossible to find if you're not equipped with maps and patience, but well worth it, this is a converted barn set back from the Wraxall/Nailsea road, along a short track. The new landlords have ratcheted this place up a notch from its previous high standing and it’s a must-visit venue in the area.

Beer is straight from barrels on stillage and is in good condition. The range has got larger and there are usually four ales with a semi-local bias. Cider is almost equally well represented (Black Rat, Thatchers, Ashton Press).

Inside is a bit eclectic, as mentioned previously it's basically a tarted-up barn and there's lots of old tat/interesting paraphernalia scattered around. A log fire keeps the place warm in the winter. The outside has been improved massively, the large gazebo (with leather sofas!) and rope lighting make for a enjoyable welcome after the gloom of the turn-off. Plenty of car parking is available and the place gets rammed at weekends, so best to visit before 8pm if possible. No food available (that I can see), this is a drinking establishment first and foremost.
