Blue Scrumpy left this review about Red Lion
Picture postcard village pub overlooking the village green. There are some outdoor tables to the front, along with an old water pump and a set of stocks. To the rear is a garden with plenty of seating and a children's play area.
Inside, there is a beamed ceiling and a mixture of granite tiling and parquet flooring. There was a real fire and exposed brick walls. A function room can be found upstairs. The pub has plenty of references to lions, due to its name. Toilets are labelled lions and lionesses, there is a snug labelled the Lion's Den, lion ornaments on windowsills and a lion's head on one wall.
Food appears to be the main focus here. Thursday is pie night and there was a list of ice cream sorbets on offer. Families are welcome and there was a well-behaved baby present. Dogs are also welcome.
Cask ales are found to the side of the bar. Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter is the regular beer. Guests were Dark Star Hophead, Hardy & Hanson's Olde Trip & Gadd's Little Cracker. I had the latter, which wasn't too bad for a rye beer. Craft beers were Beavertown Neck Oil & Greene King Level Head & Hazy Days. The cider was Balfour Cider. Cocktails were also being promoted.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Red Lion
Splendid-looking old pub (claiming a date of 1364) on a picture-postcard village green. Very much food led (and doing very well in that respect on a Saturday lunchtime), but not precious about it. The various seating / dining areas in an overall L shape have been refurbished, but in very sympathetic way. I found Shepherd Neame Master Brew, Greene King's Yardbird, 'Hardy & Hanson' Olde Trip and Harvey's (£6.20 with a packet of peanuts) being poured from the four handpumps.

A classic fourteenth century timber framed pub in a pretty village in the North Kent fruit belt-apples, pears , plums and cherries as far as the eye could see. Outside, some benches and a sun dial on the plasterwork-not sure if it works:inside, bare boards, tables laid up for dining and a central bar in front of you as you enter the pub. It feels as if it has been opened up-exposed studwork instead of separate rooms…
My visit was necessarily fleeting, but the ambience seemed good on a September Sunday lunchtime:people sitting out on the benches looking across the green to the ancient village church,or gathering round tables in the bar. Of the four beers available-Doom Bar, Old Speckled Hen, Master Brew and Old Dairy Blue Top-I enjoyed a decent pint of the latter.
When time is not at such a premium, I’d like to come back for a meal and a pint.
