Another unpromising pub exterior in Kirkwall. But a decent interior with a number of discrete drinking sections, including a Wild West style wooden baffled booth and a large stone hearth area. Talking of the Wild West, my Monday evening company were four incredibly pissed locals and blaring music. Grabbing a quick half of the Scapa Special (as about as un-special as you could imagine without it actually being off and which was the single ale on the three pumps), I buried myself away to take notes and keep out of the eyeline of the rowdies lest I be ‘invited’ to join in their conversation. The less-than-stellar beer quality and the frankly roughhouse atmosphere made me think I'd pass again if there was a next time.
