A large conversion from a former bus depot is the samuel hall, a large Wetherspoons in the heart of sherwood. set over two floors the pub is one of the largest spoons in nottingham and is always very busy with eaters and has a large food presence. There are twelve hand pumps with the usual suspects Ruddles £1.89, Abbot, £2.49 and Doombar £2.49 along with an ever rotating line of guest beers. on my last visit most beers were £2.15 and these included Greene kings george and the flagon and the house beer bus dept brewed by nottingham brewery as well as others from Milestone. These was also Kelham island pale rider and Springhead raring meg and £2.45. my george and the flagon was a very nice drink which is saying a lot as i usually do not have very kind things to say about greene king beers.

As far as Wetherspoons go this s definitely one of the better ones in nottingham bettered only by the Roebuck in town. That being said it still suffers with the spoons handling of beer which i still declare has been sub par in every one i have every visited, it's never bad but never have i had a perfectly kept pint i do not know why. Worth a visit if in sherwood as the competition here is not fierce and this is the only pub in the area serving until 12 on a weekday.

This is built in the Northern part of the bus / tram depot that appears to be still operating. It's got the usual assortment of Spoons furnishings with the addition of a sofa or two. I didn't venture into the upstairs area. There was a group of selfish parents who were allowing their offspring to run amok around the ground floor. They seemed hopelessly short staffed with a long wait to be served and uncleared tables everywhere.
The bar has two sets of five hand pumps which on my visit had Ruddles, one unclipped and eight festival beers. I went for the Robinson's Trooper 666 (£2.15 festival / standard guest price) which was cloudy and pretty poor.
I may have caught this one on a bad day but I wasn't at all impressed.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Samuel Hall (JD Wetherspoon)

Part of the former Sherwood tram depot / bus garage, forming an elongated bar with room for a mezzanine at the front end. Local history displays and artworks on the walls. 'Just' ten handpumps, but still a reasonable selection of local beers (e.g. Nottingham Supreme Bitter £2.15).
