A pleasant enough and traditional looking pub split over two levels, it’s worth making the short stroll from the city centre to check this out.

Decor wise it’s a bit of a cross between traditional and contemporary with predominantly pale blue paintwork on the walls and deeper blue on the timberwork. As far as I recall from my last visit, there was quite a bit of exposed stonework which I thought added a bit of character, but that is now quite limited with only one or two small sections of exposed walling left. Flooring is dark blue/grey painted boards whilst seating was mostly old wooden church chairs that had been repainted in a vibrant shade of red. A small tiled fire-place was off to one side, although this did not appear to be in use. We didn’t inspect the menu, but did spot a few mince pies on the end of the bar, which seemed an odd choice for mid-January.

Beers on tap were Enigma and Nova from Bristol Beer Factory, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Electric Beer Persuasion. It looked as though there may have been a few more keg options dispensed from taps on the wall behind the bar, although I did not note these. Ciders were well represented with Ashton Press, Honey’s Midford and Golden Pheasant.

A gem of a pub and one of our favourite on our crawl around Bath. I found this pub to be very smart and trendy and also thought the young bar staff behind the bar to be friendly and their service quick and attentive. The interior of the pub consists of a couple of rooms, with the main bar in the front room which was curved in shape with a solid oak counter. The walls were painted in a light grey colour with a darker grey woodwork and floor boarded throughout.
Eight handpumps, with seven in use on our visit, five of which were ales and two ciders. We went for the Electric Bear Persuasion and Bristol Beer Works Nova, both were excellent. They also had a choice of ten craft ales on tap, served from behind the bar, along the back wall.

Split level modern bar & restaurant, some old features still remainincluding the stone walls, but a modern feel.
