Will Larter left this review about The Three Cottages

This was much quieter than my previous dining pub just down the road at Heath, but I gathered that they had a booking for a birthday party a little later, and they had probably turned down a number of enquiries as a consequence. More seriously from my point of view, my visit coincided with the failure of the cask cooling system, which meant there was no real ale until it was fixed. I had the keg Murphys Stout, which was very cold but after a few minutes had quite a decent flavour befitting the style, which is more than I've ever said about the Guinness equivalent. I was told that they normally have Landlord or Boltmaker among their three hand pumps, but the next beer on after the cooler gets fixed would be from Purity. Unlike the Elm Tree this pub has made some effort to be welcoming to drinkers, and it was just my luck that my visit coincided with the absence of real ale.
