An historic roadhouse on the A30, the Bulldog has survived thanks to becoming a Harvester. The whole interior has been thoroughly modernised and, going in through the main front entrance, the large family restaurant area extends off to the right while tucked away to the left behind a couple of pillars is a small, pleasant bar. Most of the outside has been given over to parking but there is a fenced off terraced area of tables. In a welcome sign real ale has been restored, even if only in the form of Doom Bar and Atlantic, and Cask Marque accreditation gained. Only a destination if dining, but pleasant enough for a quick pint or two.
