Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Harvester The Beacon

Substantial roadhouse, not only given the usual Harvester treatment inside (totally unremarkable in terms of furniture and decor) but the frontage has been re-faced too. However, slightly unusually for the chain, the front bar is more for those just looking for a drink, with the numerous dining areas situated further back. Just one of three handpumps in operation, dispensing Doom Bar at £3.20, but at least it does do a real ale.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Beacon Harvester

A detached M&B Harvester pub, with a Premier Inn for company, with patio area. The pub dates back many years but was rebuilt at some time and is now covered by the Harvester red, white and wood panel to hide any trace of individuality.

The interior has two areas, the bar/waiting lounge and the dining area. Upon entry, you are faced with the bar/waiting area, which has an undressed brick hearth area directly in front of you and then unfolds into an eclectic seating area (sofas and comfy chairs) with some great old photos of the locality and of course, some arty pictures. The decor is a creamish rough plaster to give a 'heritage' look, with some beams. To the right there is the dining area, which is in red and cream, with again, arty pictures and was crammed full - hence the waiting in the bar. The service was ok, the clientele a good mix - it was so full, i ahd to nip into the patio area to get air.

Beer; tap stuff, with a drinkable Marston's Pedigree.

Sadly, this felt like a bland food factory, as it was so rammed and was, well, bland - still, it would make M&B happy i am sure. Not a great experience for a real ale drinker, who was not eating - not sure a misery like me would have felt any better had i been eating really.
