Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Duke Inn

Proper, old-fashioned (in a good way) side-street pub with a plainly decorated 'L'-shaped bar at the front and some old etched glass in the door indicating the Smoke Room at the back (which is more comfortable, and has a traditional corridor serving hatch). Four of five handpumps in use when I visited, offering Marston's 61 Deep, HPA (£3.50), Rev James and Abbot.

This bar is in a side street just off Birmingham Road and is a friendly pub that is in the 2018 Good Beer Guide. There are 2 rooms, the bar area to the right, and a lounge area with serving hatch to the bar. The lounge leads out to a fantastic large grassy garden with lots of wooden tables with bench seats. Children are allowed in the garden area. There were 5 beers on, 4 standard regular beers from Brains, Young, Greene King and Caledonian. The guest was from Burton Bridge, Stairway to Heaven which was fine. A fiendly community local.

The pub retains the two room format, the main room is marked on the door as the Bar, this is an L-shaped space part boarded then carpeted around the corner. Wood panelled walls, painted cream along one side, there is also a boarded stained ceiling over the bar. The bar back looks rather modern although some effort has been made to make it looked carved and traditional, on the walls there is a map of the county, a chalk board with information and a daily riddle (a new pub feature for me) plus there is a dartboard. The TV was showing the horse racing with the volume on.
The smaller squareish shaped side room is the Smoke Room, a quieter spot with a rack of newspapers and a proper fire. There is a garden to the rear.
The pub's website gives some information on the history of the pub which is one of the oldest in town, check Google for more information.
Seating is reassuringly traditional with a bench and small round tables in front of the bar.
Five on, unfortunately not the most adventurous of line-ups, Young's Bitter, Brain's Rev James, Abbot, Deucher's IPA and Robinson's Dizzy Blonde. The beer was in good shape however.
Not sure whether they do food, no signs at around 2.45pm on Saturday.
A decent and traditional pub with friendly service from an attentive landlady, a more eclectic beer range would make this a very good pub indeed.
